About this Artwork

INSPIRATION & SECRETS: This painting was inspired by flowers that blossom in winter and how much fun it can be to roll around in a bed of them while the fire burns inside. I used lots of pearls to emphasize the classic and natural beauty of a moment like this. Please do try at home.

Giclée + Other Art Terms

Giclée: From the French verb gicler, meaning, “to spray.” It is pronounced “zhee-clay”. The giclée process uses an incredibly accurate computer-controlled jet to apply ink to watercolor paper, canvas or etching paper. These unique jets are able to vary the width of the ink stream to as small as 1/100th the width of human hair. Giclées have a higher resolution than offset lithographs and the dynamic color range is greater than serigraph. Giclée reproductions are used to produce museum quality, fine art reproductions. In the art world it is generally regarded as the highest quality reproduction available.

About

Tanya Loviz

Bio

Tanya Loviz is based out of Hunter Valley, Australia, but her unique and colorful paintings have found her a devoted following in Canada and all over the world. She is unafraid of addressing the personal in her work, which has led to some wonderful experiments with form, hue and subject matter. Her depictions of love—animal or human—are poignant and touching, but never lack the clever tongue in cheek tone that distinguishes her from other, less complicated artists.

Her search for self-discovery has led her down some interesting paths. She has studied many diverse subjects. The titles of just a few of them are: "The Psychology of the Selves" at the Australian Institute of Relationship Training, "Meditation 1 & 2", "Holistic Counseling 1A & 1”, "Subtle Anatomy 1 & 2", "Music Therapy 1", "Anatomy 1A", "Yoga & Meditation" and "Crystal Bowl Sound Therapy” at Nature Care College.

Loviz has been painting for twelve years, resulting in a prodigious amount of paintings (over 700 at last count). Her interest in the environment has kept her involved and working with companies like Reverse Garbage, a co-op that collects industrial off cuts for creative community uses. She spent nine years teaching as well as an eventful month working on a fishing trawler, and her love of travel has kept her exploring various corners of the globe.
