About this Artwork
Giclée + Other Art Terms
Giclée: From the French verb gicler, meaning, “to spray.” It is pronounced “zhee-clay”. The giclée process uses an incredibly accurate computer-controlled jet to apply ink to watercolor paper, canvas or etching paper. These unique jets are able to vary the width of the ink stream to as small as 1/100th the width of human hair. Giclées have a higher resolution than offset lithographs and the dynamic color range is greater than serigraph. Giclée reproductions are used to produce museum quality, fine art reproductions. In the art world it is generally regarded as the highest quality reproduction available.

Bio
Alexey Slusar was born in 1961 in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. He graduated secondary art school and, in 1979, he entered The Academy of Architecture in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. After graduating from the academy in 1984, he started to work as an architect and designer, transforming the interiors of public institutions and working as a sculptor and decorator.
In 1988, Slusar opened a private design studio in the Ukraine. This studio worked on interiors of restaurants, cafes, clubs, as well as monumental and decorative art. In 1998, Slusar moved to Prague.
As an architect, Slusar admires the different styles in Prague 's historic centre - Gothic churches next to baroque palaces. As a painter, he can feel the spirit of the middle-aged narrow streets, the atmosphere of arcades, courtyards and all of the other beautiful places in Prague.
He fell in love with the mellow ambiance of the city, which is what he tries to depict in his paintings. Since 1998, he has participated in numerous exhibitions among galleries in the Czech Republic.
